Country/Region option set for Dynamics CRM
The PMDCI’s Country/Region option set for Dynamics CRM is a simple Dynamics CRM 2011 solution that provides an option set (i.e.: a drop-down) listing all countries and regions identified by the ISO 3166-1 specification.
By default, Dynamics CRM provides a text field to hold country/region information. This can result in a lot of inconsistencies such as misspellings, alternative names or user interpretation, particularly in multilingual deployments.
Features
- Constantly updated: I plan keep this solution up-to-date to follow any changes in the ISO 3166-1 specification.
- Localised labels: The option set comes with labels in English and Brazilian Portuguese (more languages in future releases).
- Useful JScripts: The solution includes some useful JScripts that can be used in conjunction with the option set, including a State/Province validation sample, and a function to parse the English label of the selected option into the default Country/Region field.
Instructions
Prior to the creation of this Country/Region option set for Dynamics CRM, I wrote a post in my blog explaining how to create this option set from scratch. You might want to read about here, as it explains how to set up mappings between different entities (e.g.: Leads, Accounts, Contacts) so the Country/Region value is maintained when qualifying a lead.
